Symptoms and Treatment

80% of people that get West Nile don't get any symptoms. If you do get symptoms they are  
High fever, confusion, muscles weakness, severe headache. There is no treatment for West Nile virus. Most people that West Nile usually don't get serve symptoms. 

History

West Nile formed in the West district of Uganda in 1937. The first case in america was in 1999 in New York City. it is unknown how the the disease reached New York. West Nile flares up in the summer and can continues in the fall.      

Case Study

.  Nicholas Swardson is a 35 year old male that has been hit with a case of West Nile virus. Nick Swardson is a famous Stand-up comedian, actor, television writer. He travels a lot especially when on tour for his stand up, but he hasn't done any recent stand up.  He was in 3 recent movies 30 minutes or less, jack and Jill and Bucky Larson born to be a star. He was infected by Daniel Tosh who is a friend that was hospitalized by West Nile, he went to a meeting with Daniel before he knew he had West Nile . He may have infected other people in the movie, people that are also a part of his show and people on the street.
While his friend Daniel was in the hospital Nick decided go visit him even though visitors weren’t allowed, he just wanted to see his friend for what may have been the last time. Nick didn’t feel any symptoms, not all victims of west Nile fell symptoms. He went for a routine check up and found out that he had West Nile. Nick was put in isolation he felt disappointment that he couldn’t do what he loved what was making people laugh. He also felt angry at himself for going to visit Daniel while he was in the hospital. He starts to think about how many people he may have infected.
     Doctors keep going into his room that he was staying in to see if he was getting any better. After a while nick started to fell feverish. Doctors tried to hypnotize him but it didn’t work. They decided to just let the virus go through its course and let Nick get better. A few weeks later Doctors found that Nick had no traces of West Nile any more.
Nick went back to comedy central doing his show and finished filming for Jack and Jill. He learned that he had not infected anyone. He lived happily ever after.

Fact about West Nile 

  • Spread throw mosquitoes 
  • There are no vaccines for west Nile yet
  • Most people that get West Nile don't die from it 
  • West Nile can be found in animals and humans 
  • Mostly found in horses
  • If you have a serve case the only treatment is hypnotism and that may not work
  • Humans can spread West Nile 
  • About 1 and 150 people infected with West Nile develop sever cases 
  • Anyone can get West Nile but people over 50 are at a higher risk    
  • 80% of people show no symptoms at all
